'Murder 2', desperately dark film

The sequel to "Murder" is nothing like the first part of the frenetic franchise. And Jacqueline Fernandez who has been built up in "Murder 2" as the next Mallika Sherawat is nothing like the overrated Mallika….Thank God for that! Fernandez exudes an unbridled sunniness even when pouting in the bare minimum. Alas, she doesn't have much to do in "Murder 2" except swathe the dark drama in a spot of sunshine.

God knows this film about the devil-unleashed, surprisingly written by a woman (Shagufta Rafique) needs that little of sunshine. It is a desperately dark film. The characters are wretchedly unhappy. No matter which side of the moral line they are positioned they are standing screaming into the abyss that is suburban life. These people need serious help.
This then, is the world Mahesh Bhatt has bequeathed to us. Take it and bleed it.

Director Mohit Suri who earlier took us on a jolting trip through the world of prostitution, pimps and desperate cops in "Kalyug" takes the same route again. On this occasion the journey is far more ruthless and rigorously implemented to create horror repugnance and hatred for a word that we've created for coming generations.

In the typical Mahesh Bhatt style "Murder 2" doesn't waste time in back-projections and story build-up. He goes straight for the kill. With trenchant immediacy director Mohit Suri (back in "Kalyug" form after the misfire that was his last film "Crook") tells us the story of a psychopathic killer who kills prostitutes with the pleasure that makes your stomach churn and look anxiously towards the future about your daughter who is just stepping into the big wide world.
Who knows if the man sitting next to her in the movie theatre is a closet-nutcase with a collection of hacksaws in his house, and not to carve up the Christmas turkey.

Prashant Narayanan as the psychopath plays the character at such an even pitch he makes your blood freeze in fear and revulsion. Here's a man who could be that ghoul who butchered all those kids in the Nethra killings and then ate them up without a burp.

The 'hero' in "Murder 2" is a burn-out suspended cop who makes money out of criminals, stays sullen and haunted throughout the film except when he goes for the kiss, and offers his girlfriend a wad of notes after making love. To buy the fridge, he says. Naturally the lady freezes.
Force of habit, we say. Hashmi has done this kind of a role repeatedly. The kissing and vigorous bedroom activities are quickly taken care of in the first 15 minutes. Wouldn't want the lovers of the serial kisser to feel they're being cheated in favour of the serial killer.

The wacked-out killer in "Murder 2" doesn't eat his victims. He just cuts them down to sighs…and groans and shrieks of pain and records their dying voices to get his rockers off….
The plot seems original. The narration is clenched and the characters driven by a desperate urge to assert themselves before death rings their doorbell.

The savagery with which the college-going call girl (Sulagna Panigrahi) is brought to her gruesome death becomes a metaphor for the loss of innocence and the triumph of diabolism that is often garbed in designer labels these days.

"Murder 2" is not a pleasant film to view. The psychopath's killings are done in graphic detail. The storytelling offers no respite from the brutality. Most of the time we are looking at happenings that we would rather not see. But see, we must.

"Murder 2" is a mirror of our amoral venomous times when no relationship is sacred anymore. Mohit Suri remains in command of the murky material and traumatized characters. While most episodes hold together in a riveting rhythm of life's most unsavoury truths, the sequences featuring Prashant Naraynan work better than the rest of the film. He lends the proceedings a credibility that is unsettling.

Badrinath Movie Review – Badrinath Review – Badrinath Rating, talk, Telugu Movie Review: Allu Arjun's latest movie badrinath raised so many expectations due to its package and publicity. The film looked like a blockbuster written all over it. Even the makers confidence suggested the same. With aggressive publicity Badrinath is surrounded by huge hype and the expectations continued to scale new heights by the day. So, is it up to the expectations? Did it live up to the hype? Let's uncover Badrinath review...

Story:

Badri (Allu Arjun) is one of the disciples of Bheeshma (Prakash Raj), who is a guru of ancient martial arts. Badrinath grows up into a strong fighter under Bheeshma's rigorous training. He will be appointed as the 'kshetra palakudu' (protector) of Badrinath temple. Alakananda (Tamanna), an atheist comes to Badrinath along with her grandfather. Badri learns that she is in big trouble due to Sarkar (Kelly Dorjee). Alakananda slowly realizes the greatness of Badrinath and turns a devotee. She also falls for Badri who doesn't reciprocate to her love. Bheeshma decides to make Badri his successor by handing over the responsibility of Takshasila. For that Badri has to remain bachelor forever. Not aware of his guru's decision and Alakananda's real feelings towards him Badri gives her a word that he will help her to visit Barinath temple again as she has to do that to make her wish come true. Alakananda prays Lord Badrinath to help her succeed in her love. Bheeshma takes a word from Badrinath that he would take up his duties as a true successor to him. So who wins? How does Badrinath overcomes this contrasting situation?

Analysis:

Badrinath starts on a bright note. The introduction of temples and the visuals are splendid. But immediately it takes a predictable path with some poorly etched characters and scenes. You will hardly find Badrinath being troubled in the training. The training process looks just ordinary. The confrontation between hero and heroine is regular. Nothing new or interesting. The film moves on with a silly flashback episode revealing the troubles of heroine. From then on the movie moves on with a sole reason, that is to find the interval point.


In between there is a fight where Badri goes and kills tens of terrorists with his sword. He simply evades all the bullets with a swing of his sword. It is over the top action which would not be liked by the die hard fans even. Interval episode is too predictable and the action episode goes on for ages during that period. Second half starts on a dull note with hardly any engaging scenes. Song after song follows with a heavily censored fight sequence in between. The film heads to climax with literally nothing happening post interval. Climax is a big let down.


This film is set in current era and that is the biggest logical error as you wouldn't find security and police around Badrinath temple. Even when hundreds of people gets killed there is no sign of police anywhere. The hero goes on a killing rampage in a railway station and the director doesn't care of bringing cops into the scene. Right from the concept of keeping the protagonist as protector to Badrinath temple, this film lacks logic in everything. So called commercial elements didn't work due to weak script.


This film doesn't have any comparisons with Magadheera as the public believed but it has stark resemblance to Shakti movie starring NTR. Like that this film too falls flat on most aspects except for grandeur and a couple of songs.

Performances:

Allu Arjun does the same and speaks like he does in every film despite his awkward costumes and hairstyle. He didn't try to get into the skin of the character as it is no different from his usual roles. His dances are the highlight and probably the only selling factor for this film. Tamanna liberally showed off her skin and helped her part to up the masala dose. Prakash Raj is Okay but his makeup is pretty bad. Kelly Dorjee is wasted and the woman who played his wife is over the top all the time. The man who played their son is a miscast. Raghubabu is regular and repeating Indra's comedy track with Brahmanandam didn't work. Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani didn't have much scope.

Tehnicalities:

Keeravani's songs lack freshness but are good on screen. Thanks to electrifying dances of Allu Arjun. Background score is good but Keeravani failed to recreate his Magadheera magic. Cinematography is good. The visuals of Badrinath stays with you. Art work is fine in parts. Editing is Okay. Story and screenplay written by Chinni Krishna lacks the punch and freshness. Dialogues are mediocre. Action part is another minus as all the fights looked artificial. Production values are good.


VV Vinayak disappoints big time and one cannot completely put blame on him. The problem is with the lackluster script. He couldn't do much with it. He failed in incorporating commercial ingredients too.

- Few songs

Minus points:

- Story and screenplay
- Over the top action
- Lack of entertainment
- Weak second hour and poor climax

Final Word: Badrinath – This film does justice to the first three letters in its title.

Box office predictions:

Badrinath lets the audience down who go to the movie expecting a magnum opus. Even if you are in for a regular commercial potboiler it fells short of expectations. It may survive in mass centers due to the never ending fights and mass frenzy songs. It needs a miracle to be a break even at the box office.

Shakti Movie Review

Story:

Egyptians (Sonu sood, Pooja Bedi) eyes Shakti Peethams in India to get their mummies back to life. However, they come to know that it is not an easy task to get that Shakti Trishoolam as it was guarded by Rudra (NTR Jr.). Sonu Sood dies in his hands when he tries to get that Trishoolam. His wife (Pooja Bedi) avenges her husband’s death and takes an oath to fulfill his desire. After 27 years, when the time arrives, she sends his men to get the Shakti Trishoolam. For that she has to kidnap Aishwarya (Ileana) who is born with the special powers of Shakti Matha. She is safeguarded by Shakti (NTR Jr.) and what happens next is the rest of the story.

Performances:

NTR, who has been given A1 Star title with the film, has done dual roles. He looked handsome in the role of Shakti Swaroop and did the role at an ease. NTR excelled in the dances and rocked in the role but when it comes to the flashback episode, NTR’s role in Maharudra is a disappointment to fans. The costumes did not work with NTR and he looked odd. Meher failed to showcase him in a unique look and the role as well is wrapped up at a rapid pace.


Ileana looked ravishing in the movie. This is the comeback film for the Sexy Siren after a brief gap of her Saleem. There isn’t much scope for the lady performance wise but she has her importance, when it comes to the story connection. Ileana is attractive and did an impressive job in all her three songs.


Prabhu as Ileana’s father and central home minister, Jackie Shroff as a gangster were appreciable in their good roles. Shayaji Shinde, Vinod Kumar are impressive while SP.Balu is good in his brief role. Puja Bedi in a villainous role is mediocre while Sonu Sood has no scope for performance. Brahmanandam’s role is wasted while Manjari Phadnis is seen in a couple of scenes in a very small role.

Analysis:

The first half of the film runs on a slow pace in a typical Telugu film style with NTR as a guide and few comic scenes on Ali, Krishna Bhagavan, Dharmavarapu Subramaniam. The interval bang is quite good, where NTR reveals the look of an NSG Commando secret agent. The last ten minutes before the interval leaves you pin high hopes on the second half. However, the second half of Shakti lets down your expectations completely. The Maharudra (NTR) characterization in the flashback episode lacks punch and energy and the costumes were another let down. The climax of the film is wrapped up in a hurried way with illogical sequences and senseless script.


Ashwini Dutt has spent lavishly on Shakti, and it can be seen visually in different locations. Sameer Reddy’s cinematography and Anand Sai’s art work need a special mention. The locales in North India, Dubai and Egypt are well captured. The basic concept of the Shakti peethams is a distinct and commendable idea from Meher Ramesh but execution wise, he totally failed through the screenplay. Connecting the story with the Egypt episode is useless with a missing fact. A couple of songs by Mani Sharma are good but the background score failed to lift the momentum especially in the flashback episode. Editing by Marthand.K.Venkatesh is patchy.

Verdict: Shakti is a major disappointment for all the hype it generated. Now the economics of this film completely depend upon the fate of other releases and holidays season.

Raaj Story:

Raj (Sumanth) and Mythali (Priya Mani) will get engaged as decided by their families. Mythali will be very happy for this alliance. After the engagement, Raj falls in love with Priya (Vimala Raman) in some mysterious situation and decides to marry her. All of sudden one day Priya is found missing and Raj gets married to Mythali according to his father’s word. Being seriously in love Priya he doesn’t maintain any closeness with Mythali. Many days after getting married, Raj forgets his love and tries to get close with Mythali. When this happens to take place, all of a sudden he finds Priya. He comes to know that Priya left him due to some obstacles. Mythali who comes to know about this misunderstands Raj. How Raj saves Priya from her problems? Will he get back Mythali in his life or marries Priya makes the crux of the story.

Performances:

Sumanth is good in the role of. He is excelled a lot in stunt sequences and especially his chemistry with Priya Mani and Vimala Raman in the songs it outstanding.

Priya Mani plays her parts with confidence and looked glamorous all through the film. Her performance is just like earlier films and no improvement is found.

Vimala Raman still needs to improve her acting skills to make her foundation strong in the industry.

Comedy evoked by Ali and Srinivas Reddy is passable.

Technical Aspects:

The basic plot of Raaj is just like some earlier triangular love stories films in Telugu. V. N Aditya direction of the film is adequate as he made nothing fresh to bring in some uniqueness. The screenplay should have been better. Music by Koti is okay. Action sequences are conceivable and were shot well.

Analysis:

It’s like an old wine in an old bottle as nothing is appealing. Find plus points in the film and win a free International trip as more of negatives were found. On the flipside, the first half should have been made in a more interesting way and second half is very boring and was really dragged like a serial. The comedy sequences were not properly handled. On a whole, Raaj is a below average flick.

Quick Take: If u get free tickets you can watch but don’t afford!

Dongala Muta Movie is directed by Ram Gopal Varma and important roles in the movie are portrayed by Ravi Teja, Charmi, Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna, Subba Raju, Brahmanandam, Brahmaji , Prakash Raj etc. Dongala Mutha is releasing with considerable hype as it is the first Tollywood movie that is shot with Canon 5D cameras and without giving any remuneration to actors. Dongala Mutha shooting was done in a record time of 5 days. 

Dongala Mutha Story:

A couple Sudheer(Ravi Teja) and Rani(Charmee) on their way to Rani’s friend marriage reaches an abandoned resort as their car breaks down, and finds the place dirty and the people around(Subba Raju, Supreet & Brahmaji) suspicious who kidnapped a business man Narayana Murthy(Brahmanadam) and kept in the same resort. How Sudheer saved themselves and Narayana murthy from Munna bhai (Prakash Raj) and gang with the help of a police inspector Shiva (Lakshmi Manchu) is the story. What is the reason behind locking them in the resort? Will Sudheer and Rani escape from the resort? If escaped will they have a happy ending forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Ravi Teja as Sudheer suited the role and did extremely well in combination episodes with Charmi. Regularly Ravi Teja will be seen in the roles of next door guy in his movies but in performing a serious kind of role he really excelled.

Charmi is as usual bubbly and looked glamorous. Her facial expressions exactly reflect the fear and anxiety that the film of such genre needs. Charmi is apt in her role effortlessly and gave an extremely natural performance.

Prakash Raj turns in a cool show as the suave cop who unveils the mystery by collecting the clues. His role in Dongala Mutha would be another memorable minuscule role in his career like that of Anthahpuram.

Lakshmi Manchu with her first film itself was showered with praises. Though her role is limited she performed well.

Brahmanadam and Sunil showed their talent again. Both of them were is hilarious with their portrayal and were just great.

Subbaraju performed well within the scope of his role. Brahmaji gets a sensible and a good role in the film while Supreet did complete justice. All three of them maintained the suspense factor well.

Technical Aspects:

Ram Gopal Varma’s main intention in making this film is to let the people know that a film can be made with even small budget and less number of days. RGV has come up with a unique thought of making a film in five days, need to see whether the film runs for atleast five days. The film is being shot using Cannon 5D still camera, which caught the visuals excellently. The technical brilliance of RGV should be appreciated as the frame to frame has been shot crystal clearly. Cinematography and Editing is by FX School and VFX @ FX is okay. Music has nothing to be mentioned.

Analysis:

Dongala Mutha doesn’t carry any content which is appealing. The first half of the film is good but the second half is pathetic and boring. However, the movie will be watched only for his technicalities, otherwise nothing is found interesting in the film.

With hardly any buzz about the film, very little publicity, barely any pressconferences, logo launches or the other newly invented hype drama that surrounds a release, 'LBW-Life Before Wedding' released.  Praveen Sattaru, yet another NRI debutes as director with this movie.

Story

The movie begins with a discussion between friends on love affair and marriage. A girl in the group narrates the story of her friends Jai and Rishi.

Jai (Abhijith) and Rishi(Siddhu) are friends who get to meet Anu(Nishanti). Rishi and Anu fall in love and go around for a few months. Rishi is a short tempered and irresponsible guy who is alcoholic. Anu gets to know this and decides to break up with him. Jai tries to resolve the fight between them.

Meanwhile in yet another story in Dallas, Texas, Rajesh(Rohan) and Radika(Chinmayi) are colleagues working in IBM. Since both of them are neighbours too, they share good rapport and travel by the same car every day.  Radika likes Rajesh and proposes to him. However he rejects her. Rajesh's room mate Varun(Asif) consoles Radika.

The rest of the story is on what happens between Jai-Anu-Rishi and Rajesh-Radika-Varun and how these two stories are connected.

Performances

It is hard to believe that most of the actors in this film are debutants. The young star cast Abhijit, Rohan, Siddhu, Asif, Chinmayi and Nishanti proved better than many existing stars in the industry. They were unbelievably natural and acted with ease despite being their first film. Abhijith looked cute and naturally urban. Siddhu with an anti hero role is praise worthy. Rohan's facial expressions are instantly likeable. Asif has a sculpted body and did justice to his role. Chinmayi outsmarts best of our glam divas and north Indian imported heroines with her timing and Telugu ammayi looks. Nishanti despite no killer looks gives us the feeling of deja vu. She overcomes her mediocre looks with her screen presence, emoting the expressions with accurate timing and not overdoing anything anywhere. The rest of the charecters are of parents of these youngsters whose performances are flawless.  This movie proves the theory that one doesn't need superstars or glam queens for a good story to be told.  Talented directors are not those who chase stars but create them and Praveen has just done that in his very first attempt.

Clap worthy aspects

Good impression on this film begins with the starting credits and title poster which are creative. The music of this film is fresh, outstanding and has great repeat value. The tracks Reppapatu Ee Kshanam, Teerale Vaddhante, Vedhane.. are melodious. Cinematography is stupendous and reference worthy. Screenplay is innovative to Telugu cinema and tailor made for this script. Despite no seperate comedians, the situational comedy in the film showing a fat guy always eating, and a Chineese roomate ever sleeping shows the maturity of the director in the craft. The last time USA was shown in such detail and authentically in Telugu cinema was perhaps only in 'Padamati Sandhya Ragam' years ago.

Cringe worthy aspects

The casting for the roles of parents of Nishanti and the Principal of the college could have been better. The director failed to use effective background score at scenes that demanded it. The interiors of offices of IBM in US where Abhijith goes to work look very desi. The scene where a Telugu guy with absolutely no English knowledge finding a job in Rohan's office makes one smirk. The story gets a little draggy in the second half and makes one look at the watch.

Verdict

This is an impressive movie with a never seen before narrative in Telugu cinema. This is for everyone who likes to watch movies which are hatke and sensible. A must watch.

Story:

Venu (Varun Sandesh) develops hatred towards love and love stories as his close friend Ravi commits suicide due to love failure. Venu’s father sends him to Coorg to improve the business of coffee shop, which he had given away to his close friend’s mother Malathi teacher. Venu however does not reveal his identity to them. Lasya, the granddaughter of Malathi completes Hotel Management and is also in plans to turn the Coffee Shop into a top class resort. She joins with Venu for their goal and in the process she falls in love with him. However, Venu who is in misconception about love shows disinterest towards her. How does Venu finally fall in love clearing his misconception is he rest of the story.

Performances:

Varun Sandesh came up with a clean-shaved look in the film unlike his earlier ones, but has to say, it did not suit him to his best. However, compared to his earlier films Varun has been improved in his dialogue delivery. KKC did not give much scope for emotional scenes. So, Varun has justified to his role.

Debutant Suma Battacharya looked good in few scenes and performance wise, she is convincing.

Bhimaneni Srinivas Rao and Tanikella Bharani were fine. The lady who did the role of Malathi teacher gave a decent performance.

Technical Aspects:

Director Ramana Salva has come up with a distinct storyline but somehow lost the grip on the plot. His screenplay and direction are the minus points for the film.

Santhosh Rai’s cinematography is an asset for KKC. The locales were fresh and nicely captured. Yogeshwar Sharma’s debut as a music director was appreciable. Back-ground score was praise worthy and Sirivennela’s lyrics are excellent. Dialogues by Abbur Ravi are okay in parts. Production values are good.

Analysis:

Though Kudirthe Kappu Coffee has an impressive storyline, it was badly dealt in its direction and screenplay. The movie moves on a very slow pace and you get a doubt if you are watching an art film at a point. It is hard to connect to the storyline as the director disturbs with the slow paced screenplay and misplaced songs. This non-commercial love story might be liked by the urbane audiences. But it’s hard to sustain at the Box-Office with World-Cup fever.

Final Word:

It's not everyone's  cup of coffee!!!

She becomes puppet in the hands of anti social elements. Rest of the story is how Aadi saves her and wins her heart.

Star Cast: Aadi, Isha Chawla, Samrat Reddy, Sindhu Tolani, Nassar, Dev Gill, Brahmanandham, Ali and others

Analysis: The movie boasts freshness and richness in every frame. Cinematography by Chota is crystal clear. The debutants Aadi and Isha performs with good ease. The production values of RR Movie Makers are excellent. Investing 12 Crores for a debutant's movie is some thing which no production house has ever ventured.

Aadi looked extremely good on screen. His energy levels are very high. His dances and action sequences are excellent. Entering in to the industry with large shadow of his father Sai Kumar looming on him, Aadi makes a very promising debut. Vijay Bhaskar makes a good blend of Action and Love in the movie.

Music by Anoop Rubens is good and all the songs were well choreographed and picturised.

Final Say: A decent love Entertainer. Worth Watching

Story:
Named as Samar in his childhood, he gets disturbed by the way his father behaves and grows under the custody of his neighbor Meenakshi aunty. His aunty changes his name as Veera. His childhood events continuously irk him day and night. In the relation with Meenakshi he tries to forget the shocking scenarios. As seen all bad situations during his early days with his compulsive disorder he develops his desire towards Meenakshi, but she always treats him like a son.  He becomes jealous when Meenakshi gets married. One fine day he kills her husband and in this struggle Meenakshi too gets burned and will be left with a dreadful face.

Veera being with irrational thinking becomes a psychopath by showing different personalities that are harmful. With his different behavior Veera runs after young girls for compulsive love and later leads it to violence. Sukanya (Sameera Reddy) is his childhood friend and he starts his dreadful game with her. He kidnaps her and in this process Veera gets caught by police. Here he reveals the reason for his behavior which is to be watched on big screens.

Performances:
Veera as Samar has excelled in the role of a psycho and performed ultimately in dreadful sequences. Though being new for acting, he nowhere showed the freshness of his acting skills in the film.

Sameera Reddy as a Sukanya gave an awestruck performance. Her acting skills must be appreciated during scary scenes. Coming to gorgeous beauty Samantha, She hardly has footage in the film but has done a decent job.

Deva who was seen in the role of Vijay, Assistant Commissioner of Police has done fairly well. He looked tough and suited the role perfectly. Ashwin Kakumanu as Arjun and Swapna as Meenakshi did complete justice to their roles with good performance.

Technical Aspects:
Gautham Menon’s direction is outstanding and the film made an attempt to look like a Hollywood and Korean thrillers. Gautham maintained the suspense element with his screenplay but the movie lacks thrilling moments. He scared the audiences with his extreme script. Especially direction in the second half has the right amount of twists.

Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa brought a rich look to the film and it was stunningly extreme. Editing by Anthony is good.

The first half of the film is reasonably good and carries off well and in the second half the film gets into the point and creates the much needed curiosity by engaging the audience.

Bottom Line: Chilling content, appeals for thriller movie lovers.

The Story : Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam Appalaraju is all about Appalaraju (Sunil), who is from Amalapuram and wishes to become a director and make a film. Later his dream comes true and he names his movie name as ‘Nayaki’ and it is heard that Sakshi is the heroine of Nayaki.

After a long gap of 12 years, RGV is going to wield the megaphone straight for a Telugu film. It is produced Koneru Kiran Kumar of Shreya Productions’. Koti will be composing the music while Sudhakar Reddy handles the camera..

Plot : A newcomer’s struggle through every layer of the tedious and primitive dynamics of making films in Telugu.Appal Raju decides to make the move to Hyderabad after another frustrating day at the cinemas in Amalapuram. And his prized possession (his first screenplay – Nayiki) is welcomed by everyone in the industry, but, with suggestions to compromise the script’s integrity at every rank. What Raju believes is a heartfelt screenplay is ruined with all the suggestions of the masala genre. 

Actors : Harshavardhan and Sunil are your stand outs. What these two have done is of truly international standard.And Swathi, an actor to look forward to in the future. Brahmanandam managed to get few smiles with his one-liners. Though few scenes of his were not made with conviction, he did an okay job.

Clap worthy moments

• The song criticising the directors of Telugu cinema was well choreographed. The pictures used, costumes and masks of actors are well timed.
• Dialogues making fun of Ramgopal Varma's Shiva and his other films made audience smile for Varma's jokes on himself.
• Bramhanandam's dialogues and the lyrics of songs he pens are overtly funny. For instance 'Ringu Road Kada Ranganayaki... Bongulanti Ninnu Choosi Prema Dilki' makes the audience laugh out loud.
• There are other Lol moments in Bramhy's dialogues. He says 'Kanti Tho Chooste Order...Kannu Tho Chooste Murder'.
• The lyrics of all the songs in this film are situational are whistle worthy for their catchy words.
• Swati sang the song 'Unbelievable this is Raju' and Bramhy sang his song ' Naa Peru Srisailam' which were shot on themselves and hence the emotion was perfect on their faces.

Verdict

You can watch the film for production values, camerawork, Sunil and Brahmanandams performance and the drama run by the director in a perfect way. It is a really must watch film. The audiences would get a feel of watching a good movie and they would admit such films should not have such routine commercial elements.

The story goes on like this

Krishna, shortly Krish (Jr. NTR) and Indu (Samantha) are lovers. Bhoomi (Kajal) is Indu’s friend. Bhoomi’s father (Prakash Raj) arranges her marriage with his nephew (Ajay) who is an ill-natured person. To avoid the marriage Bhoomi lies to her father that she has a boy friend. She seeks the help of Indu. Then Indu requests Krisha to act as her boy friend. Krish agrees and goes to Indu’s village. But there he comes to know that Indu’s family is a dismantled one. He wins the heart of everyone in the family, unites the family and brings in happiness in the family. The entire family starts liking Krish including Bhoomi. They start preparations for Krish-Bhoomi’s marriage. At this moment, enters Indu. She is none other than Bhoomi’s cousin. And Now the main story starts.After So many twists finally they accepted Krish To marry with there Daughters.

About Characters :

Bhramanandam character is the highlight for the movie.The back ground music by Thaman is excelent and different in style.As a movie lover I can say that you can watch the movie with family and get 99% entertainment.

NTR

As usual, NTR once again excelled in acting. Here’s yet another tailor -made role for him, and this time in an out and out family entertainer. He looked very natural, handsome, elegant and for the first time, as a lover boy, was amazing. His dances were superb. He is undoubtedly one of the best dancers of current era in Tollywood. His comedy track and fights deserves special appreciation. He has undoubtedly given his best. This is going to be his first best family entertainer.

Kajal Agarwal

Kajal Agarwal is with full of elegance. She is beautiful in traditional half saris. She too has shown her skill in acting and dances. She is beautifully showcased in the songs.

Samantha

Samantha once again looted the hearts and senses with her spellbound beauty. This time she goes a step ahead from YMC in histrionics department. She too danced well.

Srihari

Srihari’s screen presence is tremendous. He added value to the movie on a whole.

Prakash Raj

Prakash Raj has given his best. He role is of high significance in the film.


Likewise, Muskesh Rishi, as Junior NTR’s father has done justice to his role. Ajay was good as villain.


The comedy track of Bramhanandam and Venu Madhav is impressive. Both of them have done full justice to their roles.


Kota Sreenivas Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Brahmaji, Ahuti Prasad, Raghu Babu, Sana, Surekha Vani and others are good to their roles (as family members).

Technical Aspects

Brindavanam has got all ingredients - comedy, action, sentiment, good songs. Vamsi Paidipally’s attempt to shape it into a romantic family entertainer has been successful to a large extent. Dil Raju and Junior NTR strategy to target family audience seems to have been successful.


Music of the film is fabulous. All songs in this movie are good. Dialogues are good, at scenes involving sentiments they are touching. Cinematography captures the mood of the film. Choreography is excellent. Editing is fine. Production values are extraordinary.

Final Point

Though there is no freshness in the script and we had seen several movies like this in the past, a big mass hero like Junior NTR taking up the role has brought big of difference to the film. It has been moulded for audience of all ages with all the elements (barring vulgarity). In this holiday season, this would certainly be the ideal film for the complete family.

Superstar Prince Mahesh Babu’s Mahesh Kaleja has arrived with several anticipations. The last time Mahesh Babu appeared in Telugu movie was for Athidhi.  Hence, Mahesh Kaleja review is the much awaited word and understandably so. So let’s uncover Khaleja movie review.
Story:

GK (Prakash Raj) is a business tycoon and plans to establish a plastic factory in Paali village. He discovers that the land in Paali has Iridium (worth more than gold) through a researcher. For that, Hence, GK plans to get his son’s marriage with Tanikella Bharani’s daughter Subhashini (Anushka) so that their business can prosper unlawfully. And GK tries to evacuate the people in Paali (through a superstition) so that he can acquire Iridium land. Cut across, Seetharama Raju (Mahesh Babu) is a cab driver. The plot unveils as how this nowhere related Seetharama Raju saves the lives of the 534 people in Paali

Analysis:

Writer turned Director Trivikram Srinivas is known for his candy floss and humor quotient, but he unveils a different fairy-tale in the form of an action entertainer Kaleja. It’s Mahesh Babu all the way in Khaleja, which turns out to be an average film.

Mahesh Babu’s characterization is being shown in a completely different dimension. Trivikram once again comes up with an attractive script that aptly suits Mahesh Babu. In fact, Mahesh Babu has not done such a unique character thus far in his career. Mahesh Babu shoulders the responsibility and carries the feel of his character very well in this narration.

While the conflict point and plot were reasonably strong, the screenplay and pace in which the story took off was not as expected. However, since the lead protagonist being Mahesh Babu, the strength in the conflict point was not badly affected who carried well. Mahesh Babu’s action sequences were well made and he does with Bachchan-like naturalness.

Having said all these, Mahesh Kaleja is certainly not a film that should be made with a whopping budget of 40 crores and short in 3 years. Trivikram once again carries the same humor dimensions with Sunil, Ali and Brahmanandam. However, all the giddiness in the plot does not dilute the big bang.

Trivikram Srinivas manages to sustain the subtlety element in the first half, which is exciting and humors (Like he earlier did in Nuvve Nuvve and Athadu). But the second half could not accommodate the same pace. There should have edited the second half, which would have increased the tempo. Amidst huge ticket-stub flinging and loud cheers, Mahesh Kaleja manages to create a decent persona to watch.

Performances:

Mahesh Babu is very handsome and elegant. His stylish looks and trendy costumes once again make him a teen heartthrob. True to his image of Prince Charming, Mahesh Babu mesmerizes with this on-screen presence. His action episodes are great and his body language is very energetic.

Anushka, as a demure damsel, is attractive. Her essential impishness fits the role to the T (tee). However, she needs to improve her expressions in emotional scenes.

Rao Ramesh does well as a foreteller – almost the same character like he did in Magadheera. Shafi also did well as Rao Ramesh’s disciple.

Prakash Raj and Thannikela Bharani are adequate.

Technicalities:

Yash Bhatt has done a phenomenal job - The camera angles tight close shots, lighting effects and camera movements. His cinematography is on top, gritty and classy.

Mani Sharma’s music was not great except for two songs - particularly the Om Namo Siva Rudraya song is absolutely brilliant. But re-recording in action episodes is good. The action sequences of Peter Heins are spell-binding.

Editor Sreekar Prasad perhaps could have done a better job in the second half where the actual plot would be unveiled. It’s a tough call nevertheless for him.

Final Word:

All things considered, Mahesh Kaleja turns out to be an average movie. With gigantic expectations and surge in the fan base, Mahesh Khaleja comes with huge expectations, but the screenplay and the pace, coupled with an unnecessary song in the second half makes it a typical movie. But boy, watch out for Mahesh Babu’s characterization.

Komaram Puli Movie Review

 

Below Average

The long wait of Pawan Kalyan fans finally ended today. His film Komaram Puli hit the screens and the fans were all ecstatic in anticipation. Let us see how far the film has been able to satisfy the film lovers.

Story:

Puli (Pawan Kalyan) loses his father while he is still in his mother’s womb. His father is a honest cop and a gangster has killed him. Puli’s mother (Saranya) vows to make her son a honest and upright officer.


Puli saves the life of Prime Minister and he is rewarded. Puli asks for a favour from the PM. He wants a special team of police officers who can work independently without red tape and interference.


Puli gets his team. When he is asked to trace the whereabouts of a missing police officer, his trail leads him to don Al Saleem (Manoj Bajpaye). Puli is enticed by a girl in uniform (Nikisha Patel) while he is on his mission.


The rest of the story is how Puli brings down the empire of Al Saleem.

Performance:

The film is a Pawan Kalyan show all the way with other characters just doing their bit in supporting roles. Somehow the special zing of Pawan Kalyan is missing in the film. He does try hard and belts out some powerful dialogues but still the magic is missing.


Nikisha Patel is hot but her role is not etched properly. Manoj Bajpaye also does not come across as a deadly villain that he is supposed to be. Shreya sizzles in the item song. Ali’s comedy is not up to the mark. Saranya is apt as the mother. The others from Nazar to Girish Karnad just go about their roles ac per the script.

Analysis:

The film promises bit but delivers very little. There is not much entertainment and it turns out as a long drawn out and routine police action movie.


Pawan Kalyan’s dialogues and his performance in a couple of scenes is praise worthy, other than that there is not much to say about the film.


AR Rehman’s music was okay to listen to but it has not been portrayed on screen effectively. The film drags and there is no logic or continuity.


The film has too many unwanted and lengthy action scenes and they only ad to the boredom of the audiences.

Verdict:

Komaram Puli disappoints big time and even die hard fans of Pawan Kalyan would not be satisfied at all with the direction and screenplay of SJ Suryah.The three year long wait after Jalsa has not at all been furitful.

What is all about ?

Gaayam 2 is sequel of blockbuster telugu movie Gayam (1993) and it is an action thriller based movie in which, Jagapathi Babu and Vimala Raman playing the main lead roles.

Story:

A well knit tale, the story begins with Ram (jagapathi babu) who runs a coffee shop in Bangkok and he has a happy family in the form of his wife Vidya (vimala), son and brother in law (harshavardhan). Things take a turn with the arrival of Shankar Narayana (kota prasad) along with his lawyer (tanikella). They suspect that Ram is none other than Durga, the arch enemy of Guru Narayana (kota). They come up with various attempts to confirm if Ram is Durga but Ram insists he is not so. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a continuation to the original and his presentation, narration were decent. The dialogues were good, the script was alright and the screenplay was consistent. Background score was good and songs were average. Cinematography was nice. Editing was crisp. Costumes were apt and the art department was appealing. Jagapathi Babu carries out his role with élan and he was effective. Vimala Raman looks seductive to the core. The real show stealer was Kota, he was excellent. Kota Prasad was good. Ajay was brief. Tanikella was another star performer. Nagesh Salve is another man to watch out for, he resembles Ajay Devgn in few angles. Ravi Kale was regular, the others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:

The film happens to be a sequel to the original movie ‘Gaayam’ which came many years ago. While the first half was a lift from a Hollywood film, the second half was perfect in connection and it syncs well with the audience. Though there were hiccups in the emotional graph and few critical scenes, overall the pace and the narration makes it watchable. At the box office, this should be an above average entertainer and if word of mouth goes correctly then it will be a hit.

Badmash is a typical commercial package with a soup of romance, college campus revelry and comedy.

The Synopsis

Avinash (Naga Siddharth) is a carefree young man who hates rules and discipline. He joins an engineering college where the principal is a strict disciplinarian who is averse even to sports and serious about studies. The principal’s daughter Amrutha (Ekta Khosla) also studies in the same college does not believe in campus romance but finally falls in love

with Avinash. The principal comes to know that his daughter is having a love affair but does not know with whom. Avinash telephones the principal and says he is the lover of his daughter and challenges him to find out who he is. The rest of the story deals with how the principal identifies Avinash that leads to a predictable conclusion.

The Performances

New comers Naga Siddhart and Ekta Khosla fail to impress with their emoting or dialogue delivery. Chandra Mohan carries on with his usual composure. Dharmavarapu and MS Narayana try in vain to tickle the funny-bones. All others go through their motions.

Badmash Movie Review

The story is based on the premise that only studies on the campus will not make a student mature. But the way it is developed with contrived incidents makes a mockery of the theme and projects that indisciplined boys only succeed in love if they do some sort of good samaritan deeds. The screenplay is sloppy and adds to the woes of narration. Music and cinematography are ok.

The Verdict

It is better for Vandemataram Srinivas to confine himself to music direction and not venture into unknown territories like film direction. Badmash smashes the audience with insipid story-telling.

Bharat (Bala) is in love with Shilpa (Sonia Suri) daughter of police commissioner. They get intimate and Shilpa gets pregnant and the couple plan to elope.

Satya Bhama (Kalyani), a tenant of Kota Kutumba Rao (Kota Srinivas Rao), marries the house owner’s son Satya Murthy (Harinath) who falls in love with her.

Satya Bhama, an employee of a finance company, is arrested because of some irregularities in her company which are not of her making. Her husband also finds himself at the wrath of the police.

Bala does well in his role. Harinath performs with conviction. Kalyani essays her role with ease. Kota is his usual self. All others carry on with their roles.

Any Episodic film should either have independent episodes with variations of the theme or proper conectivity. With a weak story and illogical connectivity, the narration goes haywire. The screenplay is shoddy, though attempt has been made to make the presentation colourful. Dialogues do not assist the story telling. Music is just average. Nothing much to say about any technical values.

Lafangey Parindey (2010): Movie Review

    

Sometimes, your reputation precedes you. Pradeep Sarkar carries the reputation of making women-centric movies. Films like PARINEETA and LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG prove it. Who would’ve ever thought Sarkar would do a 360 degree turn in his third film by calling it LAFANGEY PARINDEY, set it in a chawl and make his characters speak tapori lingo? Hard to digest, isn’t it? Frankly, the skilled storyteller takes you on a trip least expected from him.

When you attempt something you haven’t attempted earlier or ventured into before, you either fall flat on your face or walk with your chin up in air. Sarkar doesn’t slip, although LAFANGEY PARINDEY does have its share of hiccups that show up intermittently. Unlike PARINEETA and LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG, Sarkar narrates a simple story this time around and though it has nothing to do with the Rajesh Khanna – Mumtaz – Meena Kumari starrer DUSHMUN, you can’t help but draw parallels with it, which, frankly, could be a coincidence as well. Yet, to be fair to Sarkar, he ventures in an unknown territory like a seasoned player.
On the flipside, the film has a major flaw and that dilutes the impact to an extent: Casting Neil Nitin Mukesh as a tapori. He just doesn’t look like one. Even if he tries very hard to get into the skin of the character, you just can’t connect with him since the suave and dashing demeanor makes him look like a Harvard returned, not someone from the streets or wadis of Mumbai definitely.
Final word? Sure, it has its share of shortcomings, but is an engaging watch nonethess.

LAFANGEY PARINDEY is about a group of youngsters living in the backstreets of Mumbai. It is the love story of Nandu [Neil Nitin Mukesh] and Pinky [Deepika Padukone].
One-Shot Nandu takes boxing to a new level by knocking down his opponents – blindfolded. Needless to say, One-Shot lives life on his own terms and is a local hero amongst his friends. But all that changes when he meets Pinky.

Pinky works at a mall, but is a kickass dancer on skates. Strong-headed, talented and fiercely ambitious, she aspires to rise above all the ‘losers’ living in her locality and carve a niche for herself. Two different personalities. Two different lives. Destined to meet.

LAFANGEY PARINDEY starts with gusto! Also, it moves on a singular path, without diversifying into unwanted sub-plots and superfluous characters. In fact, the story takes off at the commencement of the film itself and how Neil and Deepika’s lives get intertwined makes for interesting viewing.

The film has some truly engaging moments and most of them are in its first hour. Sequences between Neil and Deepika after the accident are wonderful and keep you hooked. However, things begin to slacken in the post-interval portions, when the love story takes over and Neil and Deepika realize that they share a deeper bond. Just when things are about to go downhill, the climax happens and LAFANGEY PARINDEY is back on track. In fact, the drama in the finale – when Deepika and Neil have to perform the final act for a television show – is the highpoint of this film. The skating sequences and choreography are stunning and awe-inspiring.
Blemishes? Oh yes! The love story is conventional and dreary. Also, the investigating officer’s track is half-baked and looks like an add-on. Besides, the film is embellished with a mediocre musical score [R. Anandh]. Also, the Bambaiya Hindi has its limitations.

Like I pointed out earlier, Neil is the wrong choice for this part. Also, he lacks the fire to carry off the role with flourish. LAFANGEY PARINDEY clearly belongs to Deepika Padukone, who suits the character and enacts it with such competence that it leaves you amazed. The pretty lass is only getting better with every film. Piyush Mishra is first-rate. Kay Kay Menon is okay in a brief role. The friends, each them, leave a mark. Especially Namit Das, who’s wonderful. Shiamak Davar, Juhi Chawla and Javed Jafferi feature in brief roles.
On the whole, LAFANGEY PARINDEY may be predictable, but is engaging and entertaining nonetheless. A decent watch!

Happy Happyga Movie Review

Behind the Movie Happy Happyga: Young hero Varun Sandesh after delivering hits of his life ‘Happy Days and KBL’ has become more consistent with failures from last three to four movies. With new director Priya Saran heading the team, pretty n tiny heroines Saranya Mohan and Vega sharing the lead roles, ‘Happy Happyga’ is a litmus test for Varun Sandesh and Music Director Mani Sharma, as both aere traveling through a rough patch. Let us know, how Happy was this movie for both of them and of course audience?








In the Movie Happy Happyga: Santosh (Varun Sandesh), is a happy living guy in Vizag running a gift consultancy ‘Cartoon Guys’ which deliver gifts in the form of feelings and expressions from one party to other. The only ambition in his life is to fall in love and that happens instantly when he meets Pooja (Vega) who arrives from London to enjoy her vacation with uncle and aunt (MS Narayana and Rajitha).




Santosh tries to impress Pooja in every form but fails because Pooja doesn’t believe in the concept of love. Yet, Santosh believes to teach her the lessons of love and creates a character a dream girl. With a misconception, Pooja comes into a belief that Priya (Saranya Mohan), sister of local goon Suri (Ravi Shankar of ‘Arundhathi’ fame) is Santosh’s dream girl.




To surprise his close friend Santosh, Pooja meets Priya and convinces her about the true love of Santosh. Very soon, Priya accepts Santosh and the drama starts. When Suri gets to know about the real love of Santosh as Pooja, he etches a new plan with Santosh, only to make his sister happy.




With huge drama continued till climax, a strong twist in pre-climax makes Santosh realize the real meaning of love but by then the time has run out. Finally what happened to the lives of Sanotsh and Pooja forms the climax.




Values of the Movie Happy Happyga: Story looks to be inspired from Puri - Pawan Kalyan block buster ‘Badri’ but with a different lock. Story writer cum director Priya Saran focused majorly on Varun Sandesh’s character with story revolving around Vega in first half and Saranya in second half. Screenplay for this kind of story needs to run on novel lines and that is missed. Dialogues by Anil Ravipudi could have been still better. Camerawork by Venki A Darshan was mediocre. Editing by KV Krishna Reddy was sick in first half. Music by Mani Sharma makes us happy in glitches. Two songs were worth listening and lyrics for the song ‘Madhuraanubhavama Prema…’ by Sirivennela Seetharama Sastri was outstanding carrying the entire USP of movie. Production values by Durga Prasad and Oceian Films were good.




Performance wise Varun Sandesh was trying that extra bit and thats clearly deviating his natural talent. Vega is cute, photogenic and looked great. Saranya Mohan once again does a good job, most of the time churning expressions with eyes. Comedy by Ali as Kailasam aka Varun Jet Lee with spoof of Hindi ‘Ghajini’ was initially humorous but bored later. Ravi Shankar, MS Narayana, Rajitha, Raja Sreedhar, Telangana Shakuntala were just okay.

Out of the Movie Happy Happyga: Director Priya Saran touched that element of love stories which is comparatively less utilized. Core theme is that Varun wants to make Saranya happy while Vega wants to make Varun happy and Ravi Shankar wants his sister Saranya happy. Story has a correct lock that can bring out an emotional drama but Priya Saran missed the opportunity with boneless characterization of hero. To spoil the game further is dialogues section. Last two twists in the story lacked the real footing and were indigestible. Mani Sharma’s back ground score is impressive and Sirivennela’s lyrics helped the theme once again.




Love stories are acceptable only when emotion and feel is sustained through out and that requires sound designing of all the characters. In our case, all is well with Saranya and Vega characters but Varun Sandesh character is immature.




If first half was dealt boring with unfulfilled comic and love scenes that helped to develop the small twist in story by entry of Saranya and that’s a tired interval. Come second half, transition in director is visible as strong conflict developed between the leads is dealt only half baked. As title suggests of movie filled with all Happy moments, it is not so. It is unhappy moods of the characters highlighted to make other characters happy.

Mani Sharma music, Sirivennela lyrics, Varun Sandesh energy, Vega and Saranya’s presence, Ali comedy are positives while a boring first half, half baked second half, lack of depth in characterizations, unconvincing climax served negatives for ‘Happy Happyga.’

Once Upon a Time in Mumbai review

Movie Review: Once Upon A Time In Mumbai; Star cast: Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Prachi Desai and Randeep Hooda; Director: Milan Luthria; Rating: ***1/2 – Amongst Bollywood’s best underworld sagas.
You seldom get period dramas in Bollywood which are not about historical characters. This year that way has been very lucky that way. Couple of months ago we had Badmaash Company and now we have Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. Of course both are completely different from each other, the first being set in the fast 90s and the latter being set in colourful 70s. And director Milan Luthria makes enough efforts to make OUATIM look very authentic and worth a watch for its settings.
Settings apart the film has its pluses with some superb performances and great dialogues. However the problem with the film is the not so new storyline and the very slow screenplay. Though the characters are well established and well rounded the writer takes the entire first half to do that without much movement in the story. And then as you expect fireworks in the second half it fizzles out too fast.
OUATIM is the story of two gangsters. While one was ethical the other was reckless. It has inspirations of the characters of infamous smuggler Haji Mastan and now infamous don Dawood Ibrahim. The film is about Sultan (Ajay Devgn) who labored through his childhood and became a smuggler as he grew up completely ruling the sea routes. He however always preferred keeping the city clean and never smuggles which was against his conscience. Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi) is inspired by Sultan’s life as a child and wants to it as big. He is a son of a police officer but has no inclination towards the law. As he grows up he makes his way to Sultan’s gang and proves himself good enough to go up the ladder fast. However his reckless ambitions soon outgrew Sultan and he decided to take over the city on his own.
The story is built on the line – ‘behind the myth is the city’s greatest betrayal story’. The screenplay does not give much importance to the betrayal. The slow pace of the first half could be a put off. Also funnily Sultan and his girlfriend Rehana never seem to age as they continue to look the same even as Shoaib grows from a child to rustic young crook.
The film has its pluses. Luthria has taken care of everything – right from trains to cars to sunglasses to shoes to buildings! Everything takes us back to the 70s. Luthria handles the dramatic moments well and great use has been made of dialoguebaazi. All actors have come up with some memorable performances. Ajay Devgn’s overpowering presence is matched by Emraan’s charm. Kangna Ranaut and Prachi Desai do their bits well though they don’t bear many consequences on the story itself. Randeep Hooda is effective as the police office.
Overall, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ is an entertainer. It does not need any effort to be understood of liked. It is the mere magic of characters created that makes this film worth watching.
